AWS Migration Guide

A proven enterprise roadmap for migrating on-premise infrastructure to Amazon Web Services securely and efficiently.

Why Migrate to AWS?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) remains the most mature and comprehensive cloud platform globally. Migrating to AWS allows enterprises to dramatically increase agility, reduce operational costs, and accelerate innovation through access to hundreds of native services, from scalable compute to advanced AI/ML capabilities.

The 6 R's of AWS Migration Strategies

Every workload is unique. TechnoPlanet Enterprise evaluates your application portfolio to determine the optimal migration path using the 6 R's framework:

  • Rehost (Lift and Shift): Moving applications as-is to EC2 instances. Fastest migration, but lower initial cloud-native optimization.
  • Replatform (Lift, Tinker, and Shift): Making minimal cloud optimizations, such as moving a self-managed database to Amazon RDS.
  • Repurchase (Drop and Shop): Moving to a completely different product, usually a SaaS platform.
  • Refactor / Rearchitect: Re-imagining how the application is architected using cloud-native features like AWS Lambda or Amazon ECS/EKS to improve agility, performance, and scalability.
  • Retire: Decommissioning applications that are no longer useful.
  • Retain: Keeping applications in their current environment due to compliance, latency, or recent upgrades.

The AWS Migration Journey

A successful enterprise migration is executed in three distinct phases:

1

Assess

We build the business case, evaluate your current on-premise footprint, and assess your organization's readiness for the cloud. Tools like AWS Migration Evaluator help project total cost of ownership (TCO).

2

Mobilize

We address gaps uncovered in the assessment phase. We build a secure, compliant AWS Landing Zone using AWS Control Tower, establish security policies, and plan the migration sprints.

3

Migrate & Modernize

Executing the migration at scale using tools like AWS Application Migration Service. Post-migration, we continuously optimize performance and cost using Cloud FinOps principles.

Building a Secure Landing Zone

Before any workloads move to AWS, TechnoPlanet establishes a robust AWS Landing Zone. This is a well-architected, multi-account environment built following AWS best practices. It includes automated security guardrails, centralized logging, IAM (Identity and Access Management) federation, and network design (VPC architecture and Transit Gateway) to ensure your cloud foundation is secure from Day 1.
